Goal
This project was done for CNSAS - Soccorso Nazionale Alpino e Speleologico.(Italian government mountain rescuer). The major aim of the project was to create a solution for mountain rescuer with e textile. The project was done with collaboration of fashion design students and human centered design approach. I was involved in the research and technological aspect of the project.
Frequent Problems
Communication & multitasking
In most cases rescuers face a problem of multitasking, for this reason yelling and gesturing are always a replacement of using the handheld transceiver.
Breathing & head protection
Low temperatures and lack of oxygen can cause various chest infections. As well as taking into consideration the protection of the head from external atmospheric agents.

3 Layer Clothing :

High Visibility Jacket :
This is the most essential tool for all members of the rescue team.
It is light, breathable and comfortable.
Due to this it has been designed using the Radyarn Starlight ceramic fiber, a polyester fiber that has ceramic particles, which are highly beneficial for human body. In addition it protects the body from the UV-A and UV-B rays, ensuring a complete protection from external agents. High visibility is guaranteed thanks to reflective fabric and LED light technology application.
Balaclava :
Using smart textiles this balaclava transforms cold air into warm air, preventing the risk of any kind of infection that could be caused by the low temperatures of high altitudes.
Balaclava features a patch of both heated mesh and breathable fabric that covers the nose and mouth. A band of conductive fabric is surrounding the head from both sides, allowing the current to flow from the cell battery pocket, which is placed at the back of the headpiece.
Based on the body maps studies, the balaclava provides breathable bio skin pattern in order to ensure 100% comfort.
